Illustration Friday – Muddy

February 5, 2010

Here’s my contribution for the week. It seemed all too appropriate based on this week’s topic. This is an older piece, but Muddy Waters the great blues performer fits the bill!

Late Night Warm Up

I pulled out my old and dry brush pen to create this pseudo Skrull looking dude. No real purpose here. Just playing with an old brush.

Illustration Friday-Resolve

Illustration Friday-Resolve

This year I resolve to draw more! I’ve spent lots of time focused on color and painting, but I need to get my chops back. I’m looking forward to working with live models, pencil and paper. There is much to be said for the craft of drawing what you see. Most of my work these days has been ‘constructionist’ type drawing. That’s great and all and it does have its place. However, seeing the shapes and forms amidst the lights and darks puts one out on an artistic tightrope. The end result is always vibrant and full of life. It is the process that I miss so much and need to get back to.

Doctor’s Office Sketch

This is a repost from the old blog. I found the actual drawing under a pile of papers a few days ago and realized “Hey-I kinda like this…”

Obama Sketch

February 19, 2008

I’ll start from scratch with my sketch of Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. I was going for a Bernie Fuchs look with the drawing. This piece is available as a print for any interested parties.
